The Honourable Ms. Lori Sigurdson
Minister of Seniors and Housing,
# 404 Legislature Building
10800 97 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, Canada T5K 2B6
Dear Madam Minister:
REFERENCE: Flawed Protection for Persons in Care Act Legislation.
We have made complaints to the Protection for Persons in Care concerning a lodge in the area of Devon.
Our complaint cited instances of theft, hundred dollars from one suite, four hundred dollars from another resident’s rooms, also disrespect and verbal abuse by staff, even kitchen staff.
When we submitted the written complaint to the Protection for Persons in Care, we were phoned by an intake worker and told that they have no jurisdiction over this lodge because it is a privately owned lodge.
They did not bother to put this on paper.
The legislation fails to protect Albertans.
The present legislation misleads Albertans into believing that all Albertans are protected.
We ask your office to review the said legislation and refer the failure of this legislation to Alberta government legislative specialists.
Ask them to provide just legislation that protects all senior Albertans.
We will be grateful to be in receipt off your response by the 1st of March, 2018. Thank you
Respectfully submitted
