Hand Delivered

The Honourable Mr. Lindsay Blackett,
Minister of Culture and Community Spirit,
# 418, Alberta Legislature Building

Dear Mr. Minister:

Discrimination against seniors based on the legislation of the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission.

The Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission proclaims that Alberta is for ALL Albertans, but the under girding legislation contradicts this. It would probably amaze most Albertans to know that our elderly pioneers are not protected by this legislation in the areas of services in which they are most vulnerable.

The Alberta Human Rights legislation fails to protect seniors. Age is not included in the area of services, facilities, accommodation and tenancy.

We respectfully ask that your government amend this legislation and provide protection for seniors.

Thank you. We shall be awaiting your reply and be grateful to be in receipt of such reply in regard to this matter by the 30th May, 2008.

Yours truly,

Elder Advocates Of Alberta Society

Honourable Mr. Dave Hancock, Deputy Premier
Honourable Mary Anne Jablonski, Minister for Seniors and Community Support Services
