Honourable Mr. Ric McIvor,
Minister of Transportation,
425 Legislature Building
Edmonton, AB, Canada T5K 2B6
Dear Mr. Minister:
Reference: Simard MD cognitive test and DriveAble computer test.
On July 10, 2012, the Director, of Driver Fitness and Monitoring, Ministry of Transportation, informed us that:
“Alberta Transportation does not require that individuals complete a Simard MD or DriveAble assessment for renewal of their Operator’s License”. (attached)
However, we continue to receive calls from across the province from seniors who are being subjected to the Simard MD assessment and referred to the private for profit agency, DriveAble.
Please advise us concerning this matter.
We would be grateful to be in receipt of your reply by the 2nd of October 2012.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
Elder Advocates of Alberta Society
