There has been no licensing requirement by the Alberta governmentin regard to theAssisted Living facilities which have mushroomedacross theprovince.Private operators build large, hotel likefacilities,which thenhouse vulnerable, aged persons, some of whom suffer cognitiveimpairment. When there is failure to provide adequate, appropriate,ethical service, no onecanbe heldaccountable.
