DriveABLE took away his licence

Our daughter, Anne, now lives in Maple Ridge, BC. She was recently
driving to a Tim Hortons on the Lougheed Highway when she came
across an older man riding a battery driven shopping cart right out on
the highway, at great hazard to himself and to others. She thought that
he must have been crazy, but he later came into Tim Hortons and he
appeared to be perfectly coherent and he looked and moved like a healthy
75 year old. He has obviously decided to not fear death at 97 years of age.
He will live his life and he will go, and he will go by the most direct route,
even out on the freeway. Anne asked about him later and everyone knows
him. His name is Leonard. DriveABLE took away his license but he wouldn’t
stop driving so they took away his car.
So then he got an electric shopping cart which he drives. He won’t pay his
fines and the police and the law obviously don’t have the heart to throw a
97 year old man in jail. So now when the police catch him out on the road
they provide him with a protective escort with flashing lights. Sounds like
taking away his license didn’t do much for safety in that particular situation.
