MEDICINE HAT — About 60 staff members at a long-term care facility in Medicine Hat

went on strike yesterday after failing to reach an agreement with Calgary-based

employer AgeCare Communities of Care and Wellness.

85% of the membership rejected a final offer from the employer Wednesday in an

on-site vote supervised by the Alberta Labour Relations Board.

AgeCare Investments, founded by Dr. Hasmukh Patel and Dr. Kabir Jivraj in 1998,

provides housing, as well as personal care services to residents on a fee-for-service

basis. Adapted from Calgary Sun
